Happy Birthday

Nineteen years ago today, I held my newborn son in my arms for the first time. I still remember the love, the awe, the sheer wonder of that experience.

Happy birthday, my darling boy!!

Win some, lose some

Weekend Argus headlines

Western Cape Matric Results: my son is one of the 65% of school leavers who actually passed their final exams this year: he gained a B aggregate with university exemption.

NPA (National Prosecuting Authority) throws book at Zuma: the guy who was just elected president of the ruling ANC party (and who is expected to become our next State President in 2009) is once again being charged with: fraud, corruption, money laundering, racketeering and tax evasion.

I'll say no more, or this photoblog will turn into a rant! :-)

The Road Into Tomorrow

My friend Quintin Gray is an awesome artist.

This Christmas I invested in one of his paintings. It's a pathway in the Kirstenbosch National Botantical Gardens in Cape Town. As my future looks pretty shadowy right now and I also can't see exactly where my path is leading, I thought this picture was just right.

Below is Quintin, with his wife Carol:

Starting with a clean slate

(Click on pic for bigger image)

Dawn cleaned my house while I was at work this morning. Washing on the line, windows all sparkling clean and it's beautiful afternoon in sunny Cape Town. On the line: revoltingly old but incredibly comfortable purple stretch pants, baggy tee shirt, son's socks, and other stuff .... on the window sill: pottery 'animals' created by my kids when they were in junior school and a dying pot plant.
